ASHI certification indicates that the inspector has been qualified by performing at least 250 board reviewed home inspections, has passed a proctored examination (not a take home unsupervised exam such as other organizations). And member status indicates that continuing education in the home systems is up to date. Don't cut yourself short with an inspector that can't obtain this member certification. An ASHI inspector may cost more, but theres a reason.
